Ponder that it was more successful than the developers had ever hoped it would be. It perhaps prooved that the general population of the free world would and could inundate the Twitter servers on topics upon which they were passionate. Can you imagine for a moment that 'the people' were to get their minds in a tizzy about some disagreeable idea, such as not putting up with a government mandate of some sort, and then retweeting about it through their network. Talk about band width, as wide as our local creek. Dare we suppose that the powers-that-be, came along and said, "Enough of this foolishness, you peasants. Kill project Retweet, or off with your heads." So they rolled over.....PERHAPS... #justsayin ;-) One-click ReTweets is (was) a fantastic ‘experiment’.
